About Kayleigh Carter:
My curiosity to discover and learn has always been my strongest trait. Since a young age I wanted to work with microorganisms and learn more about their role in diseases. After High School I moved to Stellenbosch - far from my friends, family, and other usual comforts - to pursue my goal. I now specialize in beneficial and pathogenic microorganisms linked to plants and their effect on food safety and environmental health. I am confident my younger self would be proud of how much I've learned and to hear I still have the same burning desire to learn even more.
