I am an admitted legal practitioner currently employed at a boutique labour law firm in Cape Town. I am enthusiastic, hardworking and detail-orientated with real-world experience and interest in labour law and industrial relations.
My current duties include chairing misconduct, incapacity and grievance procedures, advising clients on various aspects of disciplinary, incapacity and grievance processes to ensure they apply fair labour practices across the workplace, drafting appropriate employment relations policies as well as internal company procedures.
I have assisted and represented clients in the CCMA and Labour Court as well as conducted consultations and negotiations with various Trade Unions, Labour Brokers and the Department of Employment and Labour.
I have an extensive understanding of current South African labour legislation and various sectoral determinations. Accordingly, I have a comprehensive understanding of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, Employment Equity Act as well as the National Minimum Wage Act and am familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, as well as the Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment Act.
In my spare time I am involved in GIRL GUIDE South Africa, Cape West Region where I am currently completing my term of office as the Regional Commissioner. As part of this role I co-ordinate a team of 20 individuals and ensure the smooth operations of the various committees in the Region.
