Services offered
My name is Jonathan Benjamin. I hold a BSc (Hons.) in Environmental Science with distinction and am currently finalising my MPhil in Urban Ecology, looking at the effects of golf courses on avifaunal diversity. Outside of academia and work, I am an elite triathlete and duathlete who has been fortunate enough to have represented South Africa on a few occasions.
I consider myself to have a unique range of skills that make me an ideal candidate for many positions within the Environmental Science field (and some other fields too). I have a strong research background, with experience in fieldwork, data collection and analysis, statistical analysis (Rstudio and Python), GIS (QGIS and Python), connectivity analyses, fauna and flora sampling, and ornithology skills. In addition to my environmental skills, I hold a range of skills derived from my degree in Human Kinetics and Ergonomics, giving me valuable insights into socio-technical systems, corporate sustainability, and workplace ergonomics
Experience
I am currently working as an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) practitioner with a rage of duties ranging from: report writing, technical report writing, environmental monitoring programmes, desktop-based studies and analyses, and GIS work. In addition, I am also currently doing researching and writing an academic paper on the relationship between diversity of trees and diversity of birds and bugs across the United States for Stanford University. I am responsible for conducting literature surveys, methodology ideation and implementation, data acquisition and analysis, and statistical modelling using Python.
