Jane Schnetler

I am a dedicated professional with a proven track record in drama and theatre arts, academic literacy and writing, class facilitation, and interacting with university students. I am excited to bring my skills, experience, and passion to my work environment, where I can contribute to assisting students with their specific academic needs. 

I am a highly motivated professional passionate about academic writing, academic literacy, and dramatic and theatre arts. My expertise lies in class facilitation, student consultations and engagement, academic research, and writing. I am driven by a constant desire to learn and adapt to an ever-evolving industry.

In my current role at the University of the Free State, I facilitate English academic literacy classes and work as a consultant at our writing centre, assisting students with their specific academic literacy needs. This experience continues to hone my teaching and lecturing skills and allows me to develop a deep understanding of the academic environment and student engagement. This equips me with a well-rounded skill set and the ability to thrive in dynamic work environments.

Known to be a hard worker with a positive attitude, a no-nonsense work ethic, and a strong personality, I am a collaborative team player who values open communication and a supportive work culture. I am known to be enthusiastic and committed to everything I do, which allows me to motivate my students and colleagues alike. Additionally, my love for academia and strong attention to detail ensures that projects are executed with precision, punctuality, and excellence.

I am also a dedicated student and a life-long learner. I hold a bachelor’s and an honours degree in drama and theatre arts from the University of the Free State. I am currently finalising my master’s dissertation and will be finished by July 2023. These programmes have taught me valuable skills such as analysis, critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, academic writing, performance, branding, and many other skills specific to theatre and performance. I aim to start with my doctoral degree in aesthetics within theatrical performance in late 2023.
