• Takes responsibility for managing CT and MRI images from 12 hospitals in KwaZulu-Natal, providing cost-effective and convenient access to images from numerous modalities (source machine types).
• Handles images from medical imaging instruments, including:

  • Magnetic Resonance (MR),
  • Positron Emission Tomography (PET),

• Ensures the accurate and timeous capturing of Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) digital image data into the PACS system.

• Ensures the control and supervision of technical and other personnel and assets at all times. 
• Manages the IT system supporting the imaging diagnostic service, providing a means for accessing and displaying archived medical images and other related data in digital form.

• Sees to network transmission, Radiology Information Systems validation (RIS), and exceptions handling (programming language designed to manage the occurrence of special conditions).

• Manages all radiology equipment for 69 Hospitals serviced by the company – created the database for all radiology equipment in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and scheduled preventative maintenance for radiology equipment in the entire province. 
• Formed part of the Provincial Technical Committee – evaluated equipment purchased by the KZN Department of Health and provided the procurement team with Radiology Equipment Specifications.
• Trained all Health Technology Services junior staff on how to properly work on equipment that emit radiation. 
• Showed sound knowledge of all Acts, Policies and Regulations of the KZN Department of Health; drafted policies and procedures for clinical services aligned with these. 
• Ensured that the medical and related professionals received accurate protocols and guidelines.
