Experience

I have managed and led business units and areas effectively and profitably for 22 years (P&L responsibility) and have managed and led teams covering the whole of Southern Africa including South Africa, Botswana, Namibia. 

The areas of responsibility were managed through budgeting, analysing and interpreting of business and financial metrics and market intelligence. I was required to present performance reporting to the Executive and Board.
 

I have experience dealing in the following market sectors:  Manufacturing, Retail, Packaging, Logistics and Petroleum and Petrochemicals . I also have experience of international sales and exports to the USA, Far East, Europa and SADC countries.
 

I was responsible to develop strategies and processes and procedures to ensure business unit objectives are met and exceeded. I have also managed projects and processes within a matrix structure.
 

I have 29 years of sales and service experience and I have built and maintained relationships with various B- and C-level executives. I have also managed the relationships with sales agents and distributors to ensure successful commercial partnerships.
 

Past results achieved:
• As Retail Sales Manager, the business unit grew on average by 69% per year, whilst maintaining margins.
• During my time as Country Manager, the profit margin increased by 31% and revenue grew by 9%.
• As Customer Relations Manager, budget was achieved and exceeded for 8 years running.
Results were achieved through collaboration and cooperation of the team.
 

I have led and developed regional and national sales, administrative and operational teams being responsible for the complete human resource function.
 

Operationally, I was involved in operational efficiency (profitable allocation of resources and materials), inventory and supply chain management, as well as health and safety and regulatory compliance (OHS Act).
 

I have 14 years’ experience of price- and service level agreement negotiations and the implementation of appropriate charging mechanisms and 4 years of new capital project development. 

 

I am proficient in the Microsoft suites and I have experience on SAP Business Warehouse and CRM and Microsoft Dynamics CRM and other in-house systems.
