I am an experienced actuarial head having lead pricing and corporate actuarial departments across two prominent insurers in the South African short term insurance industry. I helped my employers turn around teams in backlog, establish new teams and functions, as well as remediate unprofitable business units. My core background is in underwriting and pricing across the group life and non-life industries, but I also have gained experience in product development, reinsurance (treaty and fac) as well as SAM (capital management and optimization) and reserving. I am experienced in setting underwriting plans (budget) to fund targeted ROE (split between underwriting and investment functions) and then following through to set underwriting and investment KPI and going further to establish the monitoring and governance processes to implement and track delivery.
