Dylan Bissett

My name is Dylan Bissett and I am 22 years old and reside in Durban, South Africa. I have recently graduated from The University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Property Studies degree. I spent three years studying towards my undergraduate degree in property studies, and the following year completing my post-graduate (RICS accredited) degree . The courses that I have undertaken within these degrees have equipped me with a strong understanding of valuations across all sectors, property management and finances, as well as property law.

My previous experience in the industry consists of a part time role at a construction company. This role allowed me to spend time and learn a substantial amount from the lead quantity surveyors. Over the last few years I have had several stints at the company in which I have enhanced my knowledge surrounding the process of tendering, on site work, forecasting and measurement.

In addition to my academics, I played several sports at school, all of which required many hours a of practice a week, in a team environment. Alongside these commitments, my role as Head Prefect of my boarding house required many extra hours and duties to be performed. I feel that this has all given me a strong skillset of time management, leadership, accountability, communication, teamwork and organisation.

I have identified Ireland as the perfect country for me to take my first steps in the industry and begin the next phase of my life. I have lived in South Africa my whole life, where my father has worked as a quantity surveyor, and as a result, played a large role in developing my passion for all things property. This upbringing enables me to offer a different perspective and opinion on any matter.

I have several months experience at a Construction company. At this firm, I have varied responsibilities that have largely dealt with assisting in the tendering process, on-site work and assistance, as well as projects on Microsoft Excel. 

My most recent education is my Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Property Studies at the University of Cape Town. This degree has covered a wide range of property related fields such as, property law, valuation, management, finance and development. This degree is importantly, accredited by RICS which is something I aim to pursue further, once i am employed full-time.
