Im a hands-on and experienced welder with over 10 years’ welding experience in the industrial, oil & gas and mining industries, of which the last 4 years also included training of welders. I bring with me an in-depth understanding of the offshore/mining culture and the importance of safety in the workplace, which is not negotiable. On the oil rigs and mines I found people of many different cultural orientations which I recognized and always respected. I am a fully qualified boilermaker/coded welder up to the 6G welding position ASME IX and well experienced in fabrications drawings Stick, MIG, TIG and Fluxcore processes and welding of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. My knowledge gained as a welder in various industries and as a welder-trainer.
Experience
I am a fully qualified boilermaker/coded welder up to the 6G welding position ASME IX and well experienced in fabrications drawings Stick, MIG, TIG and Fluxcore processes and welding of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. My knowledge gained as a welder in various industries and as a welder-trainer on a copper mine has equipped me with a well-rounded skill set to take on and achieving the goals that were set for me. However, this was only possible through gaining the trust and cooperation of my colleagues and managers, and as part of a team we achieved our production targets.
My mining experience is in the fixed plant environment, maintenance of plant and equipment e.g., mineral sizers and running the fabrication shop and welder training Centre. I accepted and enjoyed the challenge to establish the training Centre and to provide training, mentoring and coaching of national welding staff, through effective knowledge transfer.
My mining experience was gained at MMG Kinsevere, a copper mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, from June 2015 to March 2020. My day-to-day duties included: - Ensuring maximum plant and equipment availability in a safe and profitable manner, as part of the maintenance team; - Plan, organize, delegate and check on all scheduled and unscheduled tasks that have been assigned.
- Oversee, direct and mentor national welding staff.
- Ensure that work is completed on-time to the right quality standards.
- Training of national staff in the training Centre (in classroom and welding cubicles);
- Maintaining and expanding the Welder Training Centre; - On the job training and coaching of national staff.
- Assessing of subcontractor welding personnel before they went on site. - Adhere to and ensure that the company’s OHS rules and regulations are implemented, rolled down and understood.
