Responsibilities: 

1. Design and Draughting of the following fire services 

- Fire Protection system (hydrants, hose reels and extinguishers) 

- Statutory signage for Fire Protection equipment and Evacuation purposes. 

- Automatic Sprinkler systems in accordance with ASIB Regulations and SANS 10287 

- Smoke Ventilation systems in accordance with EN12101. 

- Fire Detection systems in accordance with SANS 10139. 

- Gas Suppression systems (FM200) for Archive rooms, Server rooms and Electrical rooms. 

- Rational Fire equivalent or superior to SANS 10400 Part T requirements for Commercial buildings, Office buildings, Residential buildings, Schools, Healthcare, Hospitals and Events. 

2. Design and Draughting of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems 

- Air Conditioning systems (DX, VRV etc.) 

- Mechanical Ventilation systems (Filtered Fresh Air and exhaust Extraction) 

- Smoke Ventilation systems (Natural and Mechanical) in accordance with EN12101. 

   For Commercial buildings, Office buildings, Residential buildings, Schools, Healthcare and Hospitals. 

3. Design and Draughting of Wet Services 

- Plumbing layouts, domestic cold and hot water supply reticulation, fire water supply 

- Drainage layouts 

- Hot water generation for Single Storey and High Rise Buildings.  

4. Perform cooling load calculations using Hourly Analysis Program (HAP). 

5. Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQs). 

6. Prepare tender specification documents and Design Reports. 

7. Attend technical meetings. 

8. Conduct site surveys and site inspections. Write status reports on existing mechanical and fire services installations, comment and give recommendations where necessary. 

9. Checking and scrutinizing commissioning data, and air balancing values from contractors ensuring compliance with the design specifications. 

10. Assess monthly contractors claims 

11. Installation monitoring ensuring compliance with design specifications 

12. Conduct practical completion inspections and take snags. 

13. Assist junior staff with design and draughting work. Mentor in-service training students. 

14. Conduct quality management by verifying any errors made in the design and drawing
