Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage online, phone and in-person room reservations
  • Welcome guests, check them in, distribute room keys and explain the hotel’s amenities
  • Process all payment types such as room charges, cash, checks, debit, or credit
  • Respond to guests’ issues and complaints in a friendly, timely manner
  • Explain local amenities and attractions to guests
  • Work with other staff members to ensure that all guest rooms meet hotel standards and accommodate any special client needs
  • Arrange specialized services for VIP customers
  • Complete daily checklists and run daily reports (number of arrivals, departures), identify any special requests, and check reports for accuracy
  • Follow up with guest regarding satisfaction with guest-related issues
  • Anticipate sold-out situations and obtain satisfactory alternative accommodations when the property cannot accommodate guests with reservation
  • Process all check-outs including resolving any late and disputed charge
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping to track readiness of rooms for check-in
  • Cash guests' personal checks and traveler's checks
  • Count bank at the beginning and end of shift and balance and drop receipts according to Accounting specifications
  • Operate telephone switchboard station
  • Complete end-of-day activities including posting charges to accounts, completing cashier and closing reports, running night audit backup, and roll the date
  • Print and fold folios and ensure that they are placed under each guest room door the night before check-out
