Solution architects provide high level system designs and oversight of lower-level technical decisions to ensure ongoing transformation of the company.

To do so they need to gather information, understand short and long-term implications, build a vision of target state and incremental roadmap to get there.

In this process architects often acts a glue connecting across different levels and organisations from developers to executives.

Role Responsibilities:

Solution design
Design and build consensus for high level solution approaches.
Design lower-level integration mechanisms in critical areas.
Review proposed technical decisions made by project delivery teams.
Engagement within the SDLC for projects in the assigned region(s)
Provide timely responses to relevant parts of RFIs/RFPs.
Support DD requests within assigned region(s), providing answers for technical and delivery questions.
Participate in MWS workshops to present the company technology and define all client/3rd party integrations.
Assist in preparation of the business case by creating an Architecture Solution document for all new implementations.

Review and approve PIA submissions to ensure projects are keeping their systems up to date and aligned with global architecture roadmap.

Perform architecture reviews on upcoming Epics. Escalate to other SMEs as needed.
Ensure major decisions are captured as ADRs and escalate decision to business owners where needed.
Answer technical questions from the developers working on regional delivery projects. Serve as the escalation point for developers.
Support ad-hoc requests from to discuss, agree, and understand client requests that impact technology and architecture.
Coach project lead developers to ensure they understand the principles and bigger picture.
Major changes to technology landscape
Participate in defining global architecture roadmap that will achieve key organisational objectives.
Assist with mergers and acquisition during due diligence, analysis and post-acquisition integration of the new systems.
Participate in creation and presentation of CTRC submissions.
Inter-product architecture
Define and enforce technology integration standards between internal products/services.
Ensuring that proposed allocation of data and responsibility between products is sound (eg: avoid duplicated business functionality).
Provide approvals and consultation for newly defined products/services (or products/services being extracted from the company).
Performance Assessment
Delivery projects and new products follow companywide EA strategy.
Sales support provided in a timely manner.
Design decisions are making delivery as simple as possible with EA constraints.
Escalations from projects are resolved quickly as to minimise impact to timelines.
Stakeholders consulted regarding major changes.

Experience Required:

Mandatory
Previous hands-on developer experience
Participation in multiple complex deliveries from start to end
Building relationships with both internal and external stakeholders of different levels
Solid understanding of information security principles
Understanding of company product capabilities and project lifecycle
Knowledge of common protocols and integration methods
Beneficial
TOGAF or similar certifications
Experience with cloud technologies
