    Job Purpose
  • The Head of Syndicated Loan Agency oversees and manages the Agency function responsible for coordinate syndicated loan transactions, acting as a liaison between borrowers and financial institutions, including supporting related systems and processes. This role is performed by the Lending Middle Office on behalf of the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) division for multilender structured loan transactions. The primary responsibility is to provide agency services to the lender group throughout the lifecycle of structured loan transactions, from implementation to termination. This involves ensuring that the defined transactional requirements, as reflected in relevant approvals, transaction documentation, and legal agreements, are effectively implemented and adhered to. Additionally, the role involves identifying control gaps and introducing adequate processes to mitigate risks.

Responsibilities:


  • Operational Oversight and Monitoring:
  • Assume primary responsibility for operational oversight of all local and international agency transactions.
  • Ensure that the Agency team understands and adheres to the terms and conditions specified in transaction documents, relevant legislation, and operational requirements.
  • Ensure accurately loading and maintenance of transactions on support systems, ensuring precise execution of dealrelated activities.
  • Ensure Compliance with internal processes when managing deals and executing transaction activities (e.g., cash flows, rate resets, document lodging, invoicing, collateral management).
  • Maintain accurate and reliable data on all transactions for timely and accurate management information.
  • Syndicated Loan Coordination, Communication & Relationship Management and Client Service:
  • Ensure efficient coordination of syndicated loan transactions, acting as a liaison between borrowers and financial institutions.
  • Ensure effective communication with syndicate members, enabling a clear understanding of terms and conditions & effective resolution of issues and complaints.
  • Establish, foster, and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., clients, credit, finance, legal, BU, IB Ops, lenders, Distribution) through delivering highquality input, proactive issue resolution, and open communication, building trust through excellent service delivery.
  • Team resourcing, management, and development:
  • Maintain a diverse, high-performing team through sound recruitment, staff retention, motivation, talent management, and performance management practices.
  • Manage team members, ensuring they understand their roles, the products, and deals they handle, as well as the systems and processes they need to adhere to.
  • Software Utilization and Support:
  • Ensure satisfactory system governance for system used to perform syndicated loan agency services (e.g. Debt Domain), providing solutions, resolving issues and addressing monitoring and reporting needs.
  • Ensure users (internal and external) understand and optimally use the system functionality through socialisation and training efforts.
  • Manage system related internal and external audit queries.
  • Business Growth and Operational Excellence:
  • Identify control gaps and introduce processes to mitigate risks.
  • Enhance business work methods to improve efficiencies by fully leveraging existing resources (systems, time, people).
  • Provide advice to key stakeholders on legal agreements, regulatory requirements, policies, and processes to effectively manage risk and enhance the client experience.
  • Provide practical solutions to challenges faced by stakeholders involved in syndicated loan transactions. the Lending Middle Office (LMO) team and stakeholders.


  • Essential Qualifications

  • NQF Level
  • Professional Qualifications/Honour's Degree


  • Preferred Qualification

  • Honour's degree in finance, business, or a related field, including CA (SA)


  • Minimum Experience Level

  • A minimum of 57 years of experience in syndicated lending or a related financial role with exposure to entire suit of specialised lending products
