Description
Our client in the Steel Industry, is looking for an experienced Warehouse Manager, to join their team in Durban.

The successful incumbent will possess the following:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric
  • Tertiary qualification in Operations Management/ Logistics.

Experience in the Steel Industry is CRITICAL:


  • Experience in Logistics and Warehouse Management:
  • Driver's licence and own car/transport.
  • Additional training/certification in Payroll Management (SAGE VIP) and all MS OFFICE packages.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice logistics vision, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance;
  • Overseeing Warehouse maintenance and Scheduled Deliveries;
  • Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirements;
  • Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs;
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities;
  • Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements with the help of direct reports (Warehouse Supervisor/s);
  • Identify savings by removing waste or unnecessary steps in the logistics process;
  • Interpret trends and analyse and review data.
  • Provide meaningful logistics data to others in the business to aid customer service and cost improvements.
  • Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports;
  • Hold responsibility for department budget and ensure control on all expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with import/export regulations/customs regulations, where applicable, and legal and health & safety requirements.
  • Ensure that the operation of the warehouse meets with the ISO requirements.
  • Ensure that all functions under supervision operate in accordance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
