Compensation, Benefits and Rewards

  • Accountable for effective administration and maintenance of the remuneration and rewards processes from job profiling, job grading, and salary benchmarks as well as short
- and long-term incentives.

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to benchmark, analyse and maintain the Daybreak remuneration structure.
  • Perform benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment and communicating benefits information to all employees.
  • Conduct annual local compensation survey and benchmarks on compensation, benefits, and rewards.
  • Maintain employee role descriptions, job grading and salary bands.
  • Manage rewards in the long and short term.
  • Understand and interpret statutory requirements and how these impact company benefits e.g. pension, provident, medical aids.
  • Focus on external market practices and how these affect Daybreak's retention strategies and employee benefits.

Payroll Management

  • Manage and monitor the delivery of all payroll related activities in a timeous manner.
  • Develop and deliver meaningful and accurate reports for management as and when required.
  • Use payroll system knowledge and technical expertise to ensure timely management of payroll administration.
  • Manage the implementation of Collective Agreements.
  • Ensure that all Payroll related activities and reporting align with Audit standards.
  • Overseer all payroll software processes as well as full IRP5 process of completing EMP201 and EMP501.]
  • Ensure that all SARS accounts relating to payroll are accurately analysed and balanced.
  • Manage third party payments because of pay runs.

Systems Development

  • Accountable for system optimisation, data accuracy and maintenance of human resource information system records, which will be the driver for data to payroll, and compile reports from the database.
  • Assist in maintaining organisation charts and employee directory.
  • Maintain HR information systems by ensuring updates of data in the systems and training of end users.
  • Manage the reporting and all HR data (HR data governance and security, HR data consolidation, HR master data quality assurance, HR payroll data transfer).
  • Always maintain confidentiality of data and departmental security.

People Management

  • Assign, supervise and review the work performance of subordinates.
  • Plan, organise, lead, and develop subordinates' work plans.
  • Promote teamwork, provide support, manage, and evaluate performance by creating and maintaining individual development plans and performance contracts for subordinates.
  • Recommend and approve development plans.
  • Develop and coach team members and subordinates

Stakeholder Relations Management

  • Manage relationship with grading system service providers.
  • Train employees on formalized using system and conduct workshops on new Reward processes and policies.
  • Management of Risk from Internal and External Stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance to all related Government legislation of total reward.

Education and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organisational Development, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Additional qualification in Payroll will be advantageous
  • SARA Accreditation will be advantageous
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Payroll, Benefits and Renumeration
  • Minimum 5 years' experience at senior management level leading Payroll

Technical Skills:


  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) designation preferred.
  • Project Management: The ability to plan, execute, and monitor projects to achieve specific goals and objectives.
  • Data Analysis: The ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to make informed decisions and recommendations.

Experience and Training:


  • 10+ years of experience in organisational development, talent attraction, talent management, talent retention, performance management, change management, leadership development, BBBEE, and Employment Equity.
  • Strong understanding of best practices in organisational development, talent attraction, talent management, talent retention, performance management, change management, leadership development, BBBEE, and Employment Equity.
