Scope & General Purpose of the Job

As the Business Development Specialist, the main purpose of this role is to secure new business, support the business through the efficient management of tender and proposal processes and other sales related activities.


Qualifications | Minimum
Matric


Experience | Essential

  • At least 2 years' sales experience in Contract Catering or related services.
  • Have necessary relationships within the private sector and Government departments, and sectors to include
  • Industrial, Mining, Corporate, Educational, Healthcare, and be able to interact at multiple levels across all sectors.
  • Sales and operations experience in outsourced food services, canteen and catering services within a Corporate entity is an advantage
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Client database is scrutinised and leads, and contacts are evaluated for business opportunities
  • Calls to be made and scheduled weekly
  • Potential Clients are assessed to establish suitability and viability
  • Telesales records and results are updated on Sales Pipeline
  • Find new customers for the company
  • In liaison with relevant operations management quotations or proposals are prepared and presented to the Client within the stipulated timeframe
  • Measurable pipeline is managed to ensure targets are achieved
  • Bid Committee relevant to the tender or proposal is set up and strategy is planned by bid committee
  • Tender or proposal feasibility study is conducted in liaison with the relevant Operations Manager and Business Development Manager for Review by the bid committee
  • Tender or proposal document is completed accurately meeting tender or proposal requirements, is signed off and submitted on or before the stipulated deadline
  • Tender or proposals are followed up at stipulated intervals to ascertain status or success
  • Relevant personnel are advised of successful tender or proposal and handover to relevant management is initiated
  • New client is captured on client database
  • Presentations are prepared in line with client or prospective client needs and in accordance with Company standards
  • Presentations are accurate and visually appealing
  • Presentations are coordinated and organised in terms of human and physical resources
  • All tender documents to be sent to Business Development Support for vetting to establish if it is viable to tender
  • Once vetting is done, a action plan is sent out to all parties involved and a time line project begins
  • Tender or proposal documents and requirements are distributed to relevant Personnel as instructed
  • Generic information relevant to the tender or proposal is collated
  • Stipulated Sales Targets are met
  • Sales schedule is updated weekly every Monday
  • Weekly sales report is compiled and submitted to the Business Development Support in accordance with standard requirements
  • Required sales statistics are collated monthly in accordance with stipulated procedures and presented to Business Development Support
  • Tender or proposal submission information is kept up to date at all times and submissions are recorded on sales database

Client Entertainment

  • In liaison with Business Development Manager, entertainment events are planned, prepared and organised timeously and efficiently

Clerical

  • Queries and correspondence are attended to professionally as instructed and within specified timeframes
  • Correspondence is accurate and meets Company standards
  • Documents are proofread and edited as and when instructed and in accordance with Company standards

Self-Management

  • Activities are planned quarterly, reviewed monthly and weekly and are implemented
  • Feedback is provided to the Business Development Manager as stipulated
