Africa Awaits

Here I am, trying to tempt you to travel to and visit the southern tip of Africa. Voted by many as one of the most beautiful countries in the world, its natural wonders are diverse and there is a rich expanse of places to see and visit. Not only do five friendly Bees come from here, the people of South Africa really are a hospitable bunch.
A tagline of tourism in South Africa goes: “A World in One Country”. And so it is.
Now, I can show you photos of the game parks, the magnificent shores and beaches, the arid hinterland that stretches as far as the eye can see, photos of buzzing cities, or pictures of many, many lodges, hotels and B&B’s where you can stay, the green mountain ranges, or even the hidden spots not on the major tourist routes. Or I can try and entice you by telling of the warm weather, the tasty local cuisine and the many smiling faces you will see. But I won’t do any of that.
Instead, below is a collection of photographs of that time of day when this pristine country is at its best. When twilight drapes the land and sea with soft colors and hues. When peace sets over wide vistas. When the sun sets.
Take a minute and enjoy the views of a South African Sunset.
And come and visit.

Ken Boddie Thanks Ken, those are indeed Boabab trees which are found in the far northern parts of South Africa. Apparently they grow up to a few hundred years old. Because of its strange looking trunk and branches, it is locally also known as the Upside-Down Tree.

I’ve been looking again at these magnificent pics, Gert, as the first time there were a couple missing (a problem I’m finding with many posts recently). I wonder if those spendid sunset framing trees (third from the top) are boabs (or baobabs) like we have in the outback here in Oz? Unfortunately many of our coastal dwelling populace who haven’t ventured there, think our amazing and beautiful outback is the end of the earth. In fact the last time I took a trip to outer Wop Wop I had to reassure my neighbours back east that it wasn’t the end of the earth. I could see it from my balcony window, however. 🤣

Ken Boddie I have just loaded the Ark and the zebra's, lions, dolphins are on the way to Australia. For the sunsets, you will have to set sail to this side India Ocean where you can have a year's worth. Thanks for sharing Ken!
