Renal Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Technologist

A vacancy exists for a Renal Registered Nurse and/or Clinical Technologist at Life Renal Dialysis, Athlone, reporting to the Unit Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic and optimal quality nursing care to renal patients to maximize positive outcomes in line with Company & Hospital strategic objectives.

Critical Outputs

1. Pre-Dialysis Preparation: Ensure all patient preparation tasks are completed before treatment, adhering to established safety and infection control protocols.
2. Patient Assessment: Perform comprehensive clinical assessments of all patients, including vital signs and medical history review.
3. Machine Setup: Connect patients to the dialysis machine, ensuring correct settings and administering medication as prescribed.
4. Unit Round and Monitoring: Conduct regular checks and continuously monitor patients during dialysis, documenting observations and escalating concerns as necessary.
5. Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and caregivers on dialysis procedures and provide emotional support.
6. Post-Dialysis Care: Safely disconnect patients from dialysis machines and provide post-treatment instructions.
7. Equipment Care: Maintain and disinfect dialysis equipment, reporting malfunctions to the unit manager.
8. Daily Delegation Execution: Complete delegated activities and provide feedback to the unit manager.
9. KPI Management: Monitor clinical Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for patient care.
10. Next-Day Planning: Prepare for the next day's activities and communicate resource needs.
11. Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize patient data to inform care decisions.
12. Risk Identification and Mitigation: Identify and report potential risks in patient care processes.

Requirements

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing
• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Clinical Technology
• Nurses - Current registration with SANC
• Clinical Technologists (Renal) – Current registration with HPCSA
• Nursing work experience in a Renal Unit
• Experience in administering both acute and chronic dialysis treatments
• Knowledge of dialysis treatments in ICU and High Care settings
• Willingness to fulfill a role in the unit according to the flexi-hours and acute dialysis call system
• Own vehicle with a valid license and flexibility to travel for acute dialysis
• Ability to work with various dialysis machine makes and models
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Teamwork and strong interpersonal skills
