    Description

    Accounting Supervisor Position

    We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our accounting department in Johannesburg, Woodmead.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Serve as team leader, providing guidance and performance management to ensure team members meet their goals.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and business partners by understanding their needs and presenting tailored solutions.
    • Ensure ongoing compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements by overseeing client business systems, processes, and procedures.
    • Maintain expertise in Pastel software, processing journals, and performing General Ledger account reconciliations with accuracy and timeliness.
    • Update fixed asset registers for both accounting and tax purposes.
    • Compile monthly management accounts and financial statements using CaseWare, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
    • Stay up-to-date on accounting standards and legislation, including Companies Act, 2008, Income Tax Act, 1965, Tax Administration Act, 2011, and VAT Act, 1991.
    • Prepare and submit VAT returns, EMP returns, and income tax returns using Efiling to SARS, addressing any queries or concerns.
    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including Creditors, Debtors, Bank Account to Statements, and perform VAT reviews in local government and municipalities.
    • Calculate and compile IT12s and IT14s returns, along with supporting documents and addressing any related queries.
    • Billing clients and following up on collections while maintaining accurate records.

    Desired Experience & Qualification

    • Qualifications: B. Com Accounting degree or equivalent.
    • Completed South African Institute of Professional Accountants (SAIPA) articles.
    • Accounting Honours or Post-Graduate Diploma in Advanced Accounting.
    • Professional Accountant (SA) or Associate General Accountant AGA(SA).
    • Membership in a recognized accounting body, such as SAICA, SAIPA, or SAIBA.
    • A minimum of 6 years' experience in an accounting environment or within an accounting firm.
    • Auditing and Management Accounting experience.
    • Proficiency in CaseWare and Sage Pastel software.
