Description

• Practice within your scope of practice as a Registered Nurse.
• Take over the care of the patient from theatre.
• Monitor the patient closely as they recover from the anaesthetic.
• Ensure breathing and vital signs remain strong.
• Ensure a smooth recovery.
• Arrange IV fluids, pain medication and oxygen as and when required.
• Must be competent with the Hospital's Policies and Regulations.
• Lead and supervise staff in theatre.
• Must have experience in handling drugs and scheduling is a legal requirement.
• Responsible for equipment maintenance and motivations.
• Teaching staff in the unit.
• Ensure that theatre is always running at the highest standards.
• Comply with SANC and stakeholder legislation.

• Matric is essential.
• Relevant diploma/degree in nursing is essential.
• Must have atleast 2 or more years working experience as a recovery nurse.
• Diploma in medical and surgical nursing science/equivalent or related to will be an added advantage.
• Experience as a scrub nurse will be an added advantage.
• Must be registered with SANC as a Registered Nurse with valid APC.
• Must be prepared to work additional hours.
• Must be able to work independently under minimum supervision.
• Must be computer literate
• MS Word & Excel.
• Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures and protocols
