    KPMG is a leading provider of professional services, which include Advisory, Tax and Audit. Our International Development Advisory Services (IDAS) Africa is a business unit within KPMG with a centre of excellence located in Nairobi, Kenya. IDAS adopts a pan-African approach to development work, combining dedicated experienced sector experts with KPMG professionals.

    IDAS manages and coordinates programmes and projects throughout Africa to ensure consistency of delivery, results and impact. We help address challenges faced by the global development community, by working with public sector entities (national and local governments), bilateral and multilateral development agencies, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), philanthropic foundations, the private sector and other entities on a variety of programmes.

    Purpose of the Position

    We are currently looking for an Associate Director to support us in business development and delivery for World Bank account, cutting across different sectors in Africa.

    Based in Maputo, Mozambique, the successful candidate will lead our World Bank key account across Africa, combining business development with delivery and management of engagements. This role involves coordination and oversight of our activities targeting the World Bank key sectors or strategic priorities in Africa.

    Key Roles and Responsibilities

    • Business Development: Design and implement business development strategy, generate new business, build strong business relationships, and exhibit technical and operational leadership to deliver quality solutions that target direct World Bank opportunities or borrower-led opportunities.
    • Client/Project Management: Lead/manage multiple projects or programs through direction of a team of professionals, including support on negotiations, contractual arrangements, and delivery of engagements.
    • Develop a portfolio of projects across Africa by building and maintaining strategic relationships with senior stakeholders of the Bank or Target Governments, maintain awareness of market trends, competitor activity, and products/services.
    • Risk Management: Ensure full compliance with KPMG's quality, risk, and management requirements.
    • Perform any other tasks assigned.

    Requirements

    • At least 15 years' working experience in international development sector or working with development finance institutions, preferably in Africa;
    • Proven experience managing projects and teams in a development or professional services firm;
    • At least 10 years of experience/knowledge working with the World Bank or the Group as a subject matter expert;
    • Demonstrated ability to generate business and deliver work in strategic sectors funded by the World Bank;
    • Track record of success in writing proposals and winning engagements;
    • A relevant academic qualification: Bachelor's degree in Health, Economics, Finance, Engineering etc. A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field would be essential;
    • Established relationships and networks with World Bank and other players in the World Bank strategic sectors;
    • Well-developed presentation, proposal, and report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.

    Personal Attributes

    • Good communication (written and verbal), numeracy, presentation, and analytical skills;
    • IT proficiency, especially Microsoft Office;
    • An eye for detail;
    • Team player with leadership capability;
    • Excellent coordination and planning skills;
    • Must be fluent in English; proficiency in Portuguese is an added advantage.
