    Establishing a strong foundation in rock engineering is crucial for optimizing safe extraction methods in the metalliferous mining environment.

    The Rock Engineer will be responsible for implementing and coordinating rock engineering interventions and processes, ensuring they align with best practices to enhance operational efficiency and minimize risks.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Providing expert advice and support on rock mechanics principles and numerical modeling techniques to optimize mine planning and design
    • Coordinating and overseeing the application of rock engineering systems and processes to ensure seamless integration with existing operations

    To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

    • A Chamber of Mines' Rock Mechanics Certificate (Advanced Certificate or Massive Certificate)
    • Significant experience in numerical modeling, preferably within a metalliferous mining environment
    • A tertiary qualification in science or engineering
    • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a metalliferous mining environment, with at least 1-3 years in a supervisory role

    Candidates who have successfully navigated complex rock engineering challenges and possess a deep understanding of numerical modeling techniques and rock mechanics principles are highly sought after.
