Job Advert Summary:


The SAP ERP Manager is responsible for a full range of activities which ensure the operational effectiveness and excellence of the business.

The SAP ERP Manager will be ensuring that SAP S4 HANA systems align with the organisation's strategic objectives, operate effectively and contribute to improved business processes.

The role requires a combination of technical expertise, project management skills, leadership abilities and effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


The SAP ERP Manager will be the functional expert on the SAP S/4 HANA and FIORI modules in use at NBI and be the point of contact between the business unit and IT for system enhancements.


The SAP ERP Manager will manage and oversee the implementation, maintenance and optimisation of SAP projects and upgrades at NBI.

Responsible for knowledge transfer through various training interventions, maintain business process documentation and collaborating with the business units to extend new functionality that adds value to NBI.

Provide support for other business systems in use at NBI.


Minimum Requirements:


  • Relevant degree/diploma preferred
  • SAP certification required
  • NQF rated business analyst certification
  • PMBOK project management foundation (NQF 4)
  • At least years SAP ERP Manager experience.
  • Experience with at least 1 SAP HANA implementation project.
  • At least 3 year project team leader experience

Duties and Responsibilities:


Maintain and improve business processes

  • Analyse the current business processes highlighting their strengths and weaknesses and explore ways IT can contribute to improving these processes
  • Translate Business requirements into viable solutions and within cost constraints
  • Reengineering opportunities analysed and presented to line management
  • Analyse current information systems architecture and suggest improvements
  • Assist management in the formulation of short to medium term plans to facilitate continuous business improvement
  • Implement recommendations and corrective measures found in audit reports to adhere to NBI standards and provide integrity

SAP Systems Analyst

  • Address and resolve technical issues and system errors promptly
  • Oversee the integration of SAP modules with other systems
  • Compile technical design documents in accordance with required functionality reflected in the design documents
  • Development of new functionality as reflected in the design documents
  • Modify existing functionality to ensure that it supports the required business processes
  • Manage the changes throughout the system development life cycle
  • Conduct SAP S4 HANA/FIORI Module and system testing to ensure that the developed functionality is in line with the requirements in the detailed design
  • Investigate, fix, test and migrate system bugs' fixes through the different environments
  • Controlling access to SAP S4 HANA and FIORI using SAP Authorisations

Other Software Support

  • Provide first line support for other systems at NBI
  • Escalate second line support to external service providers
  • Improve business Processes
  • Make recommendations for business process improvement and maximising System functionality
  • Provide SAP S4 HANA/FIORI user training and maintaining proper documentation

Project Management

  • Adherence to the PMBOK project methodology Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, budget and timelines
  • Plan, coordinate and manage the implementation of SAP S4 HANA/FIORI systems or upgrades
  • Compile and update business process documentation
  • Collaborate with SAP and business team to ensure successful implementation and mínimal disruption to business processes
  • Adherence to IT change management methodology

Knowledge transfer and training

  • Create and maintain SAP documentation, user guides and standard operating procedures
  • Develop and perform competency assessments for certain SAP functions
  • Multiskilling of SAP super users and knowledge transfer and skills sharing where appropriate

Build and maintain customer relations

  • Adherence to NBI SLA for task resolution
  • Monitor and manage SLA with external vendors
  • Collaborate with SAP service providers to ensure effective delivery of services and solutions

Operational business planning

  • Assist with the IT strategic planning
  • Minimise risk to NBI by ensuring adherence to BCP and DR plans
  • Investigate the feasibility of strategic initiatives and implementation of approved initiatives

Management skills

  • Lead and Manage a SAP team
  • Assign tasks, set goals, provide guidance and evaluate team performance
