Job description / core competencies:

Coordination:
Ensure that the supply chain department, and its systems, integrate seamlessly with other departments and their people and systems.

Create coordinated plans for business growth.

Ensure supply chain divisions integrate seamlessly with one another.


Control process flow:
Assess and optimise existing SOP's, implement new SOP's where necessary.

Ensure staff are correctly trained, particularly on new processes.

Obtain buy-in for system changes across departments where necessary.


Analysis and reporting:
Lead executive team and board reporting on supply chain / operations.

Establish, evaluate, and report on department KPIs.

Analyse data from shipping and delivering processes to find bottlenecks and other issues.

Maintain supply chain inventory and records.


Optimisation:
Grow and build the supply chain team as the company expands.

Manage, train and guide employees.

Find efficient and cost-effective solutions for supply chain processes.

Resolve issues (e.g. delays in delivery, accidents).

Develop and implement safety guidelines in all aspects of the supply chain (e.g. use of trucks, forklifts).

Ensure supply chain processes meet legal requirements and standards.


Functional areas of responsibility:

Production:
Management and growth of current production sites in Durban, South Africa and Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Identify additional site needs as required and lead the establishment and management thereof.

Responsible for production efficiency, throughput, delivery to schedule, cost, and quality.

Coordination with all departments involved such as Sales, Procurement, Finance and Engineering.

Establish production systems e.g. floor management systems.

Work with production engineer to optimise production processes and equipment.


Warehousing:


Ensuring effective stock control is maintained across all warehouses and stores, balancing working capital needs against production throughput and growth requirements.

Optimising space and flow to ensure efficient operations.

Ensure integrations of warehousing systems with the rest of supply chain.


Logistics:
Monitor logistics to make sure they run smoothly.

Managing complex and time sensitive shipments.

Selecting and vetting suppliers.

Logistics strategies per product and region.


Quality:
Manage quality systems and processes.

Ensure correct equipment is available.

Quality throughput.

Reporting.

Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

8+ years of experience in a production or supply chain environment.

Experience in international logistics, both sea freight and air freight will be a plus.

Experience in a rapid scaling, entrepreneurial business would be a plus.

Excellent knowledge of supply chain processes.

Extensive experience of
ERP software (ideally Microsoft Business Central).

Knowledge of PowerBI would be a plus.

Strong communication skills.

Excellent organizational and project management skills.

Attention to detail.

Creative problem-solving.

A strategic and analytical mind.

Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or similar field.

Experience implementing and operating with ISO9001 processes.


Ability and passion in implementing new processes that effect various parts of the company in a high growth, entrepreneurial environment.

A natural focus on delivering simplicity, quality and speed vs elaborate processes.

Strong ability to communicate to create alignment and buy-in for your vision and execution plans.

Proactive attitude and the ability to understand and work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
