Procurement Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW
This role requires an astute procurement manager to oversee purchasing activities and ensure that purchased items are both cost-efficient and of high quality.
The procurement manager's responsibilities include supervising staff, maintaining positive supplier relations, evaluating supply options, approving purchases, and maintaining accurate records.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Preparing plans for the purchase of equipment, services, and branded supplies.
- Following, reviewing the company's procurement policies and procedures.
- Reviewing, comparing, analyzing, and approving products and services to be purchased as well as new item requirements
- Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
- Maintaining and updating supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times, product ranges, etc.
- Maintaining good supplier relations and upholding strong negotiation of contracts.
- Researching and evaluating prospective suppliers.
- Preparing budgets, cost analyses, and reports.
- Working closely with the company finance department to make sure contracts/payment terms are favourable.
- Developing risk management procedures to mitigate losses in the event of product shortages.
- Communicate effectively with receiving regions and camps and facilitate all incoming orders for camps and lodges.
- Conducting cost analyses and setting benchmarks for improvement in camp and internal platforms.
- Keeping up with trends in the safari/travel industry.
- Being the most cost efficient in the procurement space
- Procuring goods for the camps in the most efficient way (especially with regards to logistics)
- Overcoming ongoing Tax issues
- Constantly focussing on improving the quality of the goods procured
- Always looking at new initiatives/items to put our best foot forward, both for our teams and our guests
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of experience as a procurement manager or in a similar position
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Good analytical and strategic thinking skills
- Supervisory and management experience
- Attention to detail
- Interest in yearly style trends
REQUIRED WORK PRACTICES
- Across all interactions, promote the image of the sales team as a best in class externally with our clients and internally with key stakeholders
- As a key point of contact upholding and contributing to the reputation of the company
- When staff events happen within working hours it will be compulsory to attend
CONDITIONS AND WORKING HOURS
- You will be required to work in the Cape Town office from Monday
- Friday. You are required to work 9 hours per day including an hour lunch break. The working hours are 08h00 to 17h00 with some flexibility.
- You will be required to work alternative South African public holidays, for which you may be compensated with time off in lieu
- Overtime may be required during peak periods, for which you may be compensated with time off in lieu.
