    Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

    Purpose: We are seeking a seasoned mechanical engineer with a passion for ensuring product excellence, standards compliance, and driving innovation through R&D to contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge products in the Mining industry.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    This is a dynamic role within a great team where you will play a crucial role in ensuring adherence to design mandates, standards & compliance, and successful implementation of projects within the Research & Development (R&D) department.

    Requirements:

    • BEng Mechanical Engineer/ BSc Mechanical Engineering/ BTech Mechanical or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on design verification, standards implementation, R&D, and project management.
    • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations relevant to mechanical systems and products.
    • Proficiency in engineering software and tools for simulation, modeling, and analysis.
    • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-team collaboration.
    • Proven track record of successfully managing projects from concept to completion.
    • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to think creatively and strategically.
    • Passionate about product excellence, standards compliance, and driving innovation through R&D.
    • Solid Works or similar 3D design skills.
    • Product Database Management 'PMD' knowledge will be required. (Ideally have Siemens Teamcenter skills).
    • S-Math and or MATLAB knowledge.
    • FEA software, ANSYS for structural evaluation.

    Responsibilities:

    • Interface with customers to help establish and prioritize the utilization of design resources.
    • Direct and guide design engineers on technical-related issues.
    • Manage project/task timelines to ensure that agreed milestones are reached and to communicate and plan for non-compliance in a timely manner.
    • Organize and lead "internal" design reviews to ensure that designs that are reviewed with the customer are properly checked for soundness and compliance.
    • Lead design reviews with the customer and suppliers.
