General Description of the Position:


Critical Success Factors:


  • Work safely, ensuring both yourself and your team perform all activities in accordance with both IGS and customer site specific safety requirements
  • Be in the game, work "shouldertoshoulder" with your team to maximize their productivity and quality. To the extent your team is operating safely and efficiently, be prepared to pick up a blast hose or spray equipment and perform work yourself
  • Provide effective communication and reporting of project related information to the Project Manager and other teams to support the goal of providing a superior customer service from IGS
  • Consistently review and adjust technician work flow to improve production activities that make your assigned team successful
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with project specification, quality control plan and IGS Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
  • Routinely observe and coach Quality Control (QC) personnel and Technicians with a goal of improving both quality and efficiency of work.
  • Prevent any nonconformance that can cause loss of confidence from the customer and of project's profit.
  • Strive to identify and deploy improvements that result in improved efficiency regarding consumables usage; abrasives, wire, and supplies and from lessons learned from previous completed projects.
  • Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times through personal adherence and coaching of your team in the use of IGS values (the IGS Way)
  • Report project and team performance accurately and openly to promote a learning environment where best practices and lessons learned are shared

Contacts:


  • Frequent contact with senior leadership, office personnel and employees at all levels of the organization
  • Occasional contact with customers, vendors, suppliers and other external parties
  • Occasional contact with regulatory agency authorities

Decision/Judgment:


  • Decisions are guided by a general understanding of the company's mission, vision, IGS Way Values framework, standards of operation and mutually determined strategies and objectives
  • Use judgement in dealing with what are often complex and difficult technical problems to determine root cause and deploy solutions
  • Demonstrate a strong "customer service" attitude regarding communication and project completion through balanced updates and maximization of productivity
  • Understand which decision makers are to be brought into any particular issue outside of your control

Effort/Working Conditions:


  • High physical effort and high level of physical exertion is required for this position
  • Job is performed in a challenging environment in various client facilities which includes but are not limited to refineries, paper mills and power plants in both the USA and International locations
  • Work is generally performed in a confined space with extreme temperature variations
  • Regular attendance is essential for satisfactory performance in this position, reliability is required
  • Great flexibility is required including the working of overtime to meet seasonal or other peak workload demands
  • Moderate/high degree of danger associated with jo

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Safety

  • Report near misses, correct unsafe actions and activities
  • Prevent injuries by stopping unsafe actions
  • Provide safety training to peers
  • Perform safety observations
  • Complete Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
  • Be able to execute lockout tagout (LOTO) and/ or permitting procedures
  • Be able to deliver first aid and/ or CPR in the event that such is necessary

Attitude

  • Display a positive attitude toward work assignments and coach others to do the same, regardless of task
  • Accept constructive feedback as a resource for selfimprovement
  • Address poor attitudes and assist in correction

IGS Values

Technical - Other

  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and make repairs when possible
  • Perform routine equipment upkeep and maintenance operations
  • Perform materials inspections, ensuring correct wire usage
  • Operate heavy equipment compressor, dryer, welding packs, HVAS ICU, ventilation, sand sucking equipment

Technical - Quality Control

  • Use of Elcometer, Testex tape, micrometer
  • Calibrate Elcometers as needed
  • Review QCP with the Project Manager and/or with the client prior to start of any work.
  • Ensure that at the end of each process stage/phase, the customer and/or external inspectors approve and sign off the quality ITP, and only after their approval the next stage/phase shall be carried out.
  • Execute final signoff of work and QCP completion
  • Direct the SEE Report
  • Promote effective quality control communication
  • Conduct production test plate inspection, if project requires
  • Perform initial surface condition inspection
  • Perform environmental readings and blotter tests
  • Interpret coating maps
