Nedbank Group Tax


Nedbank Group Tax is responsible for strategic oversight of the group's tax affairs through management of and ensuring compliance with the Group Tax Policy.

The function provides tax advisory support to all business units of the group, in all markets in which the group operates, while further being the primary inter-face with tax authorities in each jurisdiction.


Job PurposeResponsibilities**:


  • Understand and keep abreast of the tax reporting and compliance obligations for IT3s, FATCA and CRS.
  • Scan the regulatory landscape for any changes to existing and any new tax reporting obligations, learn quickly and unpack the impact for business and operations in a simplified manner.
  • Attend Industry meetings and workshops, liaise with Tax Authorities and Industry bodies.
  • Provide advice on system onboarding and reporting tools and be an SME on processes for IT3, FATCA, CRS and related projects. Provide training to business and operations in this regard where necessary.
  • Provide support in other tax reporting and compliance obligations like dividends tax and reportable arrangements.

Key Outputs and Accountabilities Include

  • Ensure processes and controls enhancement to ensure tax reporting to the various tax authorities complies with local legislation.
  • Ensure reporting to tax authorities is accurate and complete thereby avoiding reputational risk.
  • Ensure that all entities are reporting in full and accurately on all products that are reportable.
  • Support business in minimizing Client impact of incorrect submissions.
  • Provide advice to business on what products and services are reportable.
  • Provide training, support and tax advice to business as and when required.
  • Maintain a good relationship with business leads and attend meetings diligently and professionally.
  • Maintain good relationships with SARS and Industry bodies.
  • Attend industry and SARS meetings and workshops and provide feedback and advice to SARS and Industry Bodies on practicality and legality of new reporting requirements.
  • Advise business on impact of new reporting requirements and regulations.
  • Clarify certain regulatory aspect with relevant incountry responsible persons.
  • Assist with drafting relevant policies, procedures, risk frameworks and guidance documents.
  • Finding ways of improvement in processes.
  • Respond to queries from authorities where required.
  • Provide support and advice to various business areas with queries in respect of FATCA & CRS and other operational taxes.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation, regulatory requirements and internal processes and systems that may impact on the tax reporting compliance obligations.
  • Provide tax advice on international transactions, including reviewing relevant contracts where necessary to comply with FATCA & CRS obligations and to mitigate business risk.
  • To assist in the implementation of efficient tax control systems to minimise tax risk by conducting risk assessments in business units.


  • Essential Qualifications

  • NQF Level
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees


  • Preferred Qualification

  • Post Graduate Qualification in Tax
  • Preferred Certifications
  • Minimum Experience Level 36 years working experience in client tax reporting and compliance obligations for IT3s, FATCA and CRS.
  • Experience in Financial Services Industry across Banking and other Financial Services
