Role Summary
- Reporting to the Head of Service EMT, the Technical Manager provides a dedicated aftersales service to the field service department, workshop, Dealers key accounts in terms of technical, sales, warranty and product support related matters.
Accountabilities / Key Performance Areas
- Manages and oversees the Product Support and Technical Specialist team.
- Communicates with Dealers, internal divisions, subcontractors and company EMT Factories with regards to technical, warranty, repair procedures, design and warranty status.
- Communicates with the Head of Service EMT and dealers on warranty status.
- Continuously manages the inspections of customer fleet units.
- Ensures departmental compliance with legislation, company policies, procedures, guidelines and directives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conducts on and offsite technical inspections and compiles reports with regards to operation, application, undercarriage, failures and modifications and follows up with appropriate corrective recommendations.
- Manages the inspections of the rental fleet.
- Provides advice and recommendations with regards to training programs, attachment and reinforcing packages.
- Assists Dealers, suppliers and company technical staff with regards to technical queries.
- Meets regularly with dealer operational management locally and in neighbouring countries in order to sort out queries and concerns.
- Corresponds with the Head of Service _EMT, dealer warranty department and company factories with regards to open claims, policy warranty decisions and motivates for acceptance/review of rejected claims.
- Liaises with sales department with regards to negotiating pricing, quotations and machine configurations.
- Compiles and distributes service literature to dealers and internally.
- Initiates and controls factory required modifications and campaigns related to the dealer's equipment.
- Reports to management on a monthly basis or, if necessary, as a problem is detected.
- Ensures quality control and compliance with company maintenance standards during inspections, services and repairs.
- Complies with legislative, regulatory and authority requirements.
- Implements company policies, procedures, guidelines and directives and conversant with environment, safety drug and alcohol policies, OHS management system and emergency plan and ensures staff compliance
Inherent Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Diploma/NQF 6, with relevant trade (EME or autoelectrician) with a minimum of 5 years' related experience at a supervisory / management level.
Computer Skills:
- MS Office
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Knowledge on Baan, Lisa, Diagnostic programs (Sculi / Lindiag), Lidos, Livision, Li-DAT Lidos and LiWM
General Skills:
- Strong leadership and customer service skills
- Excellent communication skills and diplomacy
- Technical knowhow and troubleshooting
- High tolerance for stress and work pressure
