The position reports to the Farm Manager.


Key Performance Areas (but not limited to):
Ensure production of high-quality fruit by minimising unnecessary expenditure and to ensure compliance.

Responsible for all aspects related to the management of staff.

Time & Attendance Admin for supervisors and general workers

Ensuring strict adherence to all health and safety practices.

Calculate production targets upfront (daily number of trees per employee)

Calculate costs per cultivar

Implement best practices, policies, and principles to ensure compliance of all specifications required by both local and export clients.

Responsible for pest control.

Stock and inventory management and control

Responsible for overall housekeeping and maintenance of the farm, implements and assets.

Irrigation scheduling and fertigation.

Management of production harvest processes, incl. planning, implementation, and monitoring of crops aligned with world class growing techniques.

New orchard development


Qualifications
A minimum relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture


Experience
At least - 3 years practical experience as an Assistant Farm Manager.

Knowledge of the principles and methods of moving people and/or goods by road, rail, sea or air, including the relative costs and benefits

Knowledge of administrative and office procedures such as document processing, managing files and records, designing or completing forms.

Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximising the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods

Knowledge of assessing and monitoring quality standards in specific area of business

Knowledge of cultivating plants to produce fruit to the required standards

Knowledge of managing stock levels, stock takes, effectively organising stock

Computer literate on Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Valid Drivers licence


Other relevant experience and skills
Able to speak, read and write in English or Afrikaans. (Ability to speak Xhosa or Sotho will count in your favour).

Strong numerical skills.

Strong organisation and planning skills in meeting deadlines.

Must be able to work overtime, public holidays and weekends when and if required (standby duties).


Salary:
R32, R36,000.00 per month


Ability to commute/relocate:

Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)


Education:


  • Diploma (preferred)

Experience:


  • Assistant farm manager: 3 years (preferred)
