Purpose of the role
The role of the underwriter is to assess the risk of our clients based on their medical and financial status.
What will you do?

Core Tasks/ Outputs:

2. Underwrite substandard cases.
3. Underwrite business insurance (Buy and Sell, Key Person etc.).
4. Request medical and financial requirements and/or limit requirements.
5. Placement of cases according to reassurance treaty and related guidelines

Note:

The environment necessitates overtime in peak periods. The amount of overtime hours depends on the business need in terms of the volumes received.

The position is based in either Western Cape or Gauteng.

Role Requirements

Qualifications:

Grade 1
Relevant qualification will be an advantage.

Experience:

At least 3 years medical and/or financial underwriting experience.
Experience in underwriting processes will be an advantage.
Exposure to financial underwriting and business insurance will be an advantage.
Exposure to underwriting software/programs will be an advantage.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of prognosis of medical conditions.
Understand medical terminology (anatomy and physiology).
Indepth knowledge and understanding of financial statements and questionnaires.
