    The Finops Specialist is responsible for performing financial operations (Finops) activities that cover on-premise and cloud estate consumption, optimization, and cost management, with a high prioritisation on cloud Finops. The role will manage and optimise resources and costs in an on-premise and cloud computing environment. This includes activities such as monitoring and analyzing cloud usage and costs, identifying cost drivers, implementing cost-saving strategies, and ensuring cost-effective utilization of cloud resources.

    The Finops Specialist will work closely with cross-functional technical teams, including Engineering, Architecture, and IT Operations, as well as the Finance teams to align Finops activities with business objectives and drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness across both on-premise and cloud environments. This role requires strong analytical skills to analyze financial and operational data, financial acumen to provide insights and recommendations, and expertise in cloud computing platforms, such as Microsoft Azure, to effectively manage and optimize cloud resources and costs.

    Experience, skill and capability

    Key Responsibilities:
    1. Financial Operations Management:

    • Perform financial operations activities related to compute, storage and resource consumption, optimization, and cost management.

    • Analyze and optimize resource usage to drive cost efficiencies and identify potential savings opportunities.

    • Develop and implement processes and controls to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with financial policies and procedures.

    2. Cloud Finops:

    • Utilize cloud financial management tools and techniques to manage and optimize cloud spending.

    • Monitor and analyze cloud usage and costs, identify cost drivers, and recommend cost-saving strategies.

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cloud cost optimization initiatives and track their effectiveness.

    3. Data Analysis and Reporting:

    • Collect, analyze, and interpret financial and operational data to provide insights and recommendations.

    • Prepare regular reports and dashboards on financial performance, cost trends, and optimization initiatives.

    • Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior management, to support decision-making.

    4. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align Finops activities with business objectives.

    • Engage with stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide financial insights and recommendations.

    • Act as a subject matter expert on Finops and provide guidance and support to internal teams.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (optional)


    • Strong understanding of financial principles and practices, with experience in financial analysis and reporting.

    • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as Microsoft Azure, and experience in cloud cost management and optimization.

    • Familiarity with financial management tools and systems, including cloud financial management tools.

    • Relevant certifications in Finops, cloud cost management, or finance ( FinOps Certified Practitioner, AWS Certified Cloud Financial Management, etc.) are desirable.

    • AZ-900 a must, and other Azure certifications are of benefit.
