    Job Overview:

    The Maintenance/Driver role encompasses various aspects of facility management and transportation duties to ensure smooth operations, a safe functional environment, and reliable vehicle support.

    The Maintenance attendant plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of facilities within an organization. Facilities Attendants contribute to a positive and functional environment by ensuring that facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Cleaning and Sanitizing: Perform routine cleaning tasks to ensure facilities are clean, sanitized, and presentable, including restrooms, offices, common areas, and other designated spaces.
    • Trash and Waste Management: Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins regularly, disposing of waste according to established procedures and regulations.
    • Restocking Supplies: Monitor and replenish supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and cleaning products to maintain adequate inventory levels.
    • Basic Maintenance: Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed, including replacing light bulbs, fixing leaky faucets, and repairing minor damage to furniture or fixtures.
    • Safety and Security: Conduct routine inspections to identify and address safety hazards or security concerns, ensuring emergency exits are clear and accessible, and safety equipment is properly maintained.
    • Event Setup and Breakdown: Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture, equipment, and materials for events, meetings, or special functions as needed.
    • Groundskeeping: Perform basic groundskeeping tasks, including lawn mowing, landscaping, snow removal, and outdoor maintenance, to maintain exterior areas.
    • Assisting Visitors: Provide assistance, directions, and answer questions for visitors, directing them to appropriate personnel or locations.
    • Compliance: Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations, following established protocols and procedures for facility management.
    • Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of cleaning and maintenance activities, inventory levels, and equipment inspections.
    • Teamwork: Collaborate with facilities staff and departments to maintain high standards and complete tasks efficiently.
    • Customer Service: Provide friendly and helpful customer service to internal stakeholders and external visitors or clients.
    • Driving Duties: Transport staff, goods, or equipment as needed, ensuring vehicles are clean, fueled, and well-maintained.
    • Other Duties as Assigned: Perform additional tasks or duties assigned by management to support overall facilities functioning.

    Theoretical Knowledge and Qualifications:

    • Matric Certificate
    • Certifications such as Certified Custodial Technician (CCT) or Certified Building Service Executive (CBSE) can demonstrate proficiency and commitment to excellence in facilities management and custodial services.
    • Familiarity with cleaning techniques, equipment, and products is essential, including Health and Safety Knowledge.
    • Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, are important for interacting with team members, supervisors, and building occupants.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and work independently with minimal supervision.
