    Key Responsibilities:

    • Leading the design, development, and deployment of scalable, secure, and high-performing payment systems.
    • Collaborating with team members and stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet evolving customer needs.

    Requirements:

    • At least 5 years of experience in Software Development, focusing on Backend Development in Java.
    • At least 2 years in a Technical Leadership position.
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
    • South African citizenship and residency.

    Technical Skills:

    • Strong experience with Java and Java EE/Jakarta EE.
    • Solid understanding of object-oriented principles, software design patterns, and distributed systems.
    • Experience working with relational databases, particularly SQL/Oracle SQL.
    • Strong understanding of international payments systems, financial services, and payment gateway integration.

    Desirable Skills:

    • Knowledge of modern DevOps tools such as Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
    • Proficiency in RESTful APIs, microservices architecture.
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation of build, test, and deployment processes.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Rudimentary knowledge of Bash/Python scripting for automation tasks.
    • Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes and Docker/Podman.
    • Understanding of Agile development methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of payment-related SWIFT and ISO20022 messages.
    • Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in the banking sector.
