    Description

    Job Title: Head of Fixed Income

    Located in Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa, this is a Permanent role offering some Remote Opportunity.

    Role Overview:

    The Head of Fixed Income will lead and manage a high-performing fixed income team, responsible for driving the development and management of fixed income investment strategies. The successful candidate will provide strategic direction, oversee portfolio management, and ensure that the fixed income portfolio meets client needs, business objectives, and performance targets. This is a leadership role requiring expertise in capital markets, investment strategies, and risk management.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic direction to drive the performance of portfolios, products, and processes as the leader of the fixed income team.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and enhance fixed income offerings and ensure they align with business objectives.
    • Foster a high-performance culture within the team, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.

    Investment Management:

    • Develop and implement fixed income investment strategies, ensuring solutions are robust, efficient, and deliver optimal outcomes.
    • Manage fixed income portfolios to meet performance targets and risk parameters.
    • Analyze the market to identify opportunities and risks within the fixed income space, translating insights into actionable investment strategies.
    • Oversee credit research, analysis, and risk management processes to ensure the team meets the highest standards in portfolio management.

    Client & Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Engage with stakeholders to identify investment needs and opportunities, ensuring strategies are aligned with client requirements and market dynamics.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners and industry forums to stay competitive and informed.
    • Contribute to business development efforts by collaborating with distribution teams to create a pipeline of investment opportunities.

    Risk & Governance:

    • Evaluate risk management practices to safeguard investments and comply with regulatory requirements.
    • Ensure governance of fixed income solutions, adhering to established processes and standards.
    • Monitor portfolio performance and ensure it aligns with strategic objectives.

    Team Development & Leadership:

    • Lead and mentor a team of fixed income professionals, driving performance excellence and fostering an environment of continuous learning.
    • Acquire and develop talent to ensure the team is aligned with business objectives and client needs.
    • Cultivate collaboration within the team and across other departments to drive innovation and business growth.

    Requirements:

    Education & Qualifications:

    • A postgraduate degree in Investments, Finance, or a related field (Masters in Investments or similar preferred).
    • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or other relevant professional qualifications are advantageous.

    Experience:

    • At least 10 years of portfolio management experience, with at least 5-8 years of senior leadership experience within fixed income.
    • A proven track record of managing fixed income portfolios across various products and markets.
    • In-depth knowledge of capital markets, macroeconomic drivers, and fixed income investment strategies.
