Purpose
The role of a Physical Security Network Technician will be to provide cabling and networking installation services for CCTV, Access control, VOIP and other security network environments.

Detailed Description
Client:
- Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including CCTV controls, IP Camera's, Turnstiles etc.
- Configuring security network systems
- Maximising network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting
- Arranging scheduled upgrades
- Investigating faults in the network
- Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases
- Reporting network status to key stakeholders
People
- To form and maintain good working relationships with internal support functions and peer group with a view to share best practice
- Must be able to engage with people in both a transparent and honest approach
- Be able to take direction and communicate effectively.
- A resilient approach and able to work under pressure. Interact with staff on engineering problems and their resolution
Level of Authority
- Works according to standard guidelines and accepted work practices / norms
- Refers issues not covered by procedures or prior experience to the Physical Security Network Manager
- May refer to regulatory requirements, service level agreements and company procedures prior to referring the matter to the line manager.
Size
Physical Security Network Technician forms part of the Security team and reports to the Physical Security Network Manager.
Skills and Competencies
- Experience with network and system efficiency to implement network solutions
- Understanding of how to install and configure network equipment
- Ability to communicate with people with various levels of technical knowledge
- Diagnostic and problemsolving skills to troubleshoot problems and find solutions
- Proficiency in computers, software and database systems
- Critical thinking skills to solve complex problems
- Dexterity when handling manual repairs and tests
- Advanced data cabling/Fibre troubleshooting & Incident resolution to perform data cabling/Fibre project related activities and tasks
- Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
- Maintain and improve customer satisfaction through first time incident resolution and quality service delivery
Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications
Minimum
- Grade 12 (NQF level 4)
- Cable & Fibre installations
- Data Cabling experience minimum of 3 years technical security knowledge
- Driver's License
