    Description

    We are a well-established international Defence Industry company, seeking an exceptional Junior Mechanical Designer to become part of our dynamic team, specializing in the design and development of land-based defence systems. If you are passionate about designing innovative, high-performance mechanical systems and components for military vehicles, armoured platforms, and other critical defence systems, we want to hear from you.

    Responsibilities

    • Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings of vehicle components, assemblies, and systems, based on design engineer specifications.
    • Use CAD software (Autodesk Inventor) to design and modify technical drawings for new and existing systems.
    • Work closely with design engineers to ensure that drawings reflect design intent and meet performance and technical criteria.
    • Maintain accurate records of all technical drawings and ensure documentation is up-to-date.
    • Update and refine drawings based on feedback from engineers, testing teams, and other departments.
    • Provide clear and precise drawings to the manufacturing team, ensuring they meet production and quality standards. Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, such as welding, machining, and sheet metal fabrication, is essential.
    • Evaluate industry standards, military specifications, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
    • Assist the design team by specifying materials, dimensions, and tolerances to ensure proper manufacturing and assembly of components.
    • Support senior draughtsmen and design engineers during the design and development process.
    • Contribute to project planning, resource allocation, and risk management.

    Requirements

    • Proficiency in CAD software (Autodesk Inventor is preferred).
    • A deep understanding of vehicle mechanical systems and components.
    • The ability to read and interpret engineering designs and schematics.
    • High attention to detail and precision in producing accurate drawings.
    • The ability to troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues in assembly and manufacturing processes.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with engineers.

    Qualifications

    • Mechanical Engineering Degree Essential
    • Bachelor's degree with a minimum average of 85% or higher essential

    Additional Information

    • A valid driver's license is required.
    • Availability: Immediate start date is preferred.
    • Contract type: Permanent position.
