    Academic Leadership in English Language Specialisation

    Vacancy Overview

    MANCOSA, a registered private higher education distance education provider, seeks an academic leader to provide teaching and learning facilitation within the English language specialisation.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Facilitate both face-to-face and online lectures, ensuring engaging and effective delivery of course material.

    2. Provide one-on-one academic consultation to students, offering support and guidance as needed.

    3. Design formative and summative assessments to evaluate student learning and progress.

    4. Review and moderate curriculum and assessments to ensure alignment with academic standards.

    5. Grade assessments and provide stakeholder feedback, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

    6. Potentially serve as Programme Coordinator/Module Coordinator, overseeing programme development and implementation.

    7. Undertake programme and module reviews, identifying areas for enhancement and growth.

    8. Assist with activities in the iTEACHlab, promoting innovative teaching and learning practices.

    9. Collaborate with the Work Integrated Learning department, supporting students in real-world applications.

    10. Develop short learning programmes (SLPs), enhancing student knowledge and skills.

    11. Engage actively in research and publishing, contributing to the academic community.

    12. Identify students at-risk and execute constant pastoral care, prioritising student well-being.

    13. Perform programme and quality management administrative tasks as required, ensuring efficient operation.

    14. Serve as subject matter expert (SME) in the English language specialisation, informing content resource development.

    Minimum Requirements

    1. A Master's Degree in the specialisation area, with a related PhD in progress.
    2. At least 2-3 years' lecturing experience in English First language.
    3. Experience in Inclusive Education, Gender Studies, or School Governance is desirable.
    4. School-based teaching experience, specifically teaching CAPS, is essential.
    5. Demonstrate research engagement over the last 3 years, showcasing scholarly contributions.

    Related Knowledge, Competencies, and Skills

    1. Familiarity with distance and online education, including the use of an LMS.
    2. Working knowledge of the South African Higher Education regulatory framework.
    3. Able to work within predetermined time frames and deadlines, prioritising tasks efficiently.
    4. Confident communication and professional presentation skills.
    5. Capacity to work collaboratively as a team player, fostering a positive work environment.
    6. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Internet, and Email).
    7. Excellent writing and reporting skills, with a high level of ethics and confidentiality.
