Our client in the Waste Management Industry is looking for a Financial Controller.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Analysis of the financial results of the region
  • Analysis and explanation of management accounts to budgets and forecasts
  • Finalising interdepot charges
  • Development and measurement of regional production KPI's
  • Presentation of financial results to management
  • Controlling all orders against budget
  • Preparation of annual budget and biannual forecast
  • Ensuring compliance to internal controls at depot level

RESPONSIBILITES RELATING TO KEY PERFORMANCE AREA:

  • Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements. Variance analysis
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Support monthend and yearend close process
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Additional controller duties as necessary
  • Liaising with external auditors in South Africa and Mozambique
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.

  • Calculate and prepare annual tax returns.
  • Review the balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure invoicing complies with legislation.
  • Prepare Cashflow projections
  • Review salary journals
  • Manage debtors and creditors collection
  • Manage petty cash and reconcile
  • Calculate and prepare annual tax returns.
  • Payments: Register all service type contracts with the Department of finance and obtain a binding opinion in respect of Withholding Tax on Double Taxation Treaty.
  • Payments: Obtain tax clearance certificates for all crossborder payments.
  • Coordinate all service and goods type payments to Interwaste in South Africa.
  • Exports to Mozambique: develop and review the export document control and administration processes inclusive of export registers and export files.
  • Ensure compliance to all applicable laws.
  • Ensure a local Portuguese chart of accounts is maintained as described by Mozambican law.
  • Ensure invoicing complies with IVA legislation.
  • Review the monthly IVA returns submitted to the Department of Finance.
  • Review the monthly payroll journals and statutory deductions and ensure compliance on submissions and payments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Three plus years working experience in a similar role;
  • Working Experience in Africa
  • Expert MS Office Skills
  • Experience working on accounting systems,
  • Strong administrative acumen.
  • Attention to detail;
  • Analytical mindset;
  • Accustomed to do reconciliations;
  • Proficient in excel

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Grade 1 5 years' senior financial experience
  • B.Com completed
  • CIMA, CA(SA) (Advantageous)
  • Willing to travel to Mozambique as and when required
  • Management Accounting qualification

REMUNERATION:


  • Up to R900k Cost to Company per Annum

Salary:
R840, R900,000.00 per year
