Purpose of the Role
We are looking for a Senior Internal controller to join our team, the role is in the QSR industry.

The Senior Internal Controller responsible for the design, implementation, and monitoring of an organization's internal controls.

Internal controls are the policies, procedures, and systems that help to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting, compliance with laws and regulations, and the safeguarding of assets.


Key performance area

  • Conduct risk assessments and develop audit plans
  • Obtain an understanding of the client and the audit reveiw area by reviewing prior working papers and report
  • Draft Audit scope letter and list of client requirements
  • Arrange with various process owners to discuss and document the process
  • Review audit guides as required
  • Conduct a walkthrough of the process and key controls identified to ensure the adequacy of the design and implimentation
  • Draft audit procedures
  • Execute procedures as per the approved audit program.
  • Document all audit work performed clearly, with details in the audit working papers.
  • Complete the audit program and the audit working papers.
  • Perform store audits from initiation to completion.
  • Communicate audit findings and recommendations to management.

Qualification

  • BCom/Diploma/Btech in Internal Auditing/Accounting and CIA completed

Experience

  • 4+ years of Internal Audit experience or 1 year's postarticle experience

  • The ability to critically assess control environments, identify weaknesses and provide practical recommendations and guidance on the weaknesses identified
  • Effective management of juniors
  • Efficient productivity
  • Ability to conduct internal audits from initiation to completion with mínimal intervention
  • Assess the risks to the organization's financial reporting, operations, and compliance

Knowledge & skills

  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in MS Excel/MS word and MS PowerPoint.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Basic Data and analytics knowledge
Team management

  • Experience coaching juniors
  • Ability to maintain positive team relationships and function independently
  • Experience coaching juniors

Other

  • Must have their own vehicle and a valid driver's license.
  • Available to travel as required (Interprovincial only)
  • This role needs an individual who preferably understands the QSR/FMCG industry
