The Catholic Health Care Association of Southern Africa (CATHCA) is the Catholic Church's associate body for health in South Africa, Botswana, and Eswatini.

The organization was established in 1987 and is a proud affiliate of the Southern African Catholics Bishops Conference.

CATHCA is a membership-based association consisting of over 200+ faith-based, community-linked organisations working at the intersection of primary health care, mental health, HIV/TB, GBVF, and child safeguarding in some of the neediest communities in the region.


CATHCA seeks to recruit Parish Mental Health Coordinators in Bethlehem, Klerksdorp, and Witbank to work closely with the Mental Health Ministry Manager of the South African Chapter, under the guidance of CATHCA's Executive Director.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Conductmental health awareness events in the parishes and communities.
  • Facilitate psychosocial support initiatives for people experiencing mental health conditions.
  • Link severe mental health cases to local mental health care services.
  • Implement knowledge, attitude and practice surveys as well as service satisfaction surveys.
  • Submit Mental Health Ministry narrative reports every month.
  • Participate in project review and mentoring meetings.
  • Carry out any other tasks as may be assigned by the Mental Health Ministry Manager.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Matric qualification.
  • Good understanding of Catholic Social Teaching.
  • A good understanding of mental health and mental health care
  • Experience in community health work.
  • Experience in group facilitation.
  • Good communicable skills.
  • Ability to interact with community members.
  • Ability to speak English and languages spoken locally.
Willingness to travel locally within the diocese.

Stipend:
Dependent on level of experience and qualifications


Job Type:
Part-time


Salary:
R2, R3,500.00 per month
