The role involves managing a portfolio of activities to assist the FirstRand Group Finance Head in the execution of her mandate.

This would include assistance with aligning the Group Finance and
FCC finance strategies to the group strategy, analysing finance output and on occasion representing the Group Finance Head in various internal and external forums.

The role also entails assisting with presentations/submissions to various committees, including the audit committee and Stratco, and assisting with ad hoc presentation requests.

FirstRand Group

  • Create greater capacity for the Head of Group Finance (HOGF) to focus on the strategic aspects of her portfolio by working independently to manage the effective functioning of her meetings, forums, and projects.
  • Preparation for, facilitation of and attendance of key meetings.
  • Liaising with the HOGF's personal assistant on daytoday management ensuring that the diary plan makes sense and that the HOGF is appropriately prepared for upcoming engagements/meetings.
  • Assist with the group results process for interims and year end, including preparation of audit committee presentations, collating documents for submission to audit committee and arranging/attending meetings with key stakeholders and interactions with BUs as required by HOGF.
  • Assist with the group budget process, including review of presentations, collating documents for submission and arranging/attending meetings with key stakeholders and interactions with BUs.
  • Prepare, review, and submit monthly Stratco presentations.
  • Prepare and review SARB presentations and other ad hoc presentations on behalf of HOGF.
  • Prepare agenda, review, and manage action items from
    FCC Finance Exco and CFO/Head of Finance forum meetings.
  • Assist with adhoc projects with HOGF.
  • Prepare, collate, and distribute documents, presentation materials, and briefing documents on behalf of the HOGF.
  • Add value to final deliverables by understanding the contents and ensuring that the final product meets requirements.
  • Review and assist in dealing with issues of an operational and technical nature.
  • Analyse and make recommendations regarding improvements to specific processes.
Group Finance

  • Line manager of the Group Finance (GF) team's personal assistant and the administrator.
  • Assist and prepare the cost centre annual budget in consultation with HOGF.
  • Ensure efficient use of GF's funds and correct allocation of costs against budget and cost centre through monthly monitoring of management accounts.
  • Ensure functions and initiatives are arranged within the budget.
  • Build and maintain rapport with the HOGF, GF Exco and GF staff.
  • Deal with all office related queries in a timely manner.
  • Review and oversee the risk portfolio for Group Finance.

FCC

  • Prepare agenda and communicate relevant information, received, or decided by the
    FCC Finance Exco.
  • Assist in reviewing the monthly overall
    FCC management accounts.
  • Run with
    FCC cost optimisation projects.
