POSITION:
PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR


PURPOSE:


A production supervisor ensures complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems and reporting results of the processing flow on shift production.

A supervisor is also responsible for supervising specific administration components and processes within a smaller/less complex section or department.


RULES ANS RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Supervise and control assigned department as determined by the production manager.
  • Utilize knowledge and skills to supervise subordinate and assign tasks to ensure that assigned department's production process is effective.

  • Utilize knowledge and skills to ensure that production orders are completed within the prescribed time frame as determined by the Production Manager
  • Utilize knowledge and skills to ensure that all products are within specification as determined by the Production Manager
  • Report any deviations from specification to Production Manager immediately.
  • Utilize knowledge and skills to be accountable for all functions within assigned department.
  • Utilize knowledge and skills to ensure that materials used are within specification as determined by the Production Manager
  • Utilize knowledge and skills to ensure that the production process is cost effective by keeping wastage to a minimum in consultation with the Production Manager
  • Fully understand and implement the company's Food Safety policy and work in conjunction with the Production Manager to ensure that high levels of food safety are upheld in the production process.
  • Fully understand and implement the company's hygiene and housekeeping policy throughout assigned department.
  • Respect machinery and ensure appropriately used for the correct production process.
  • Products produced must balance to wrapping.
  • Ensure correct material is used and correct recipe followed.
  • Ensure that subordinates employ safe methods when working with machinery and report nonperforming / malfunctioning machinery through the correct processes in consultation with the Production Manager
  • Troubleshoot quality and food safety issues where possible.
  • Drive continuous improvement on quality, effectiveness and waste reduction.
  • Ensure that all documentation (e.g., yields and shortages) is completed on a daily/weekly/monthly basis as required by the Production Manager
  • Monitor and review performance of all subordinates in consultation with the Production Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Matric
  • Computer literate
  • 3+ Years Proven work experience as Production supervisor or similar role.
  • Bread and flour confectionery baking
  • Knowledge of organizational effectiveness and operations management
  • Experience in a bread factory environment and the ability to be hands on with production.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership ability
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • FMCG Group experience
