    Description

    Job Overview

    We are seeking an Intermediate Ruby on Rails Developer to join our team at a cutting-edge AgriTech company based in Stellenbosch. As part of our full-stack team, you will have the opportunity to work on all aspects of our SaaS platform for the agricultural sector, including front-end, back-end, desktop clients, infrastructure, design, R&D, and security.

    About You

    1. You have a Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Administration (BBA), or Information Systems.
    2. You possess 3+ years of development experience.

    Technical Requirements

    1. Ruby on Rails API
    2. Angular web app
    3. Electron desktop app
    4. Heroku for API and background workers
    5. RDS Postgres for database
    6. Various AWS services
    7. Gitlab for source control & CI/CD
    8. GraphQL for all network comms
    9. Figma for UI prototyping
    10. Docker for local dev

    Your Responsibilities

    1. Refactor vessel, container & pallet tracking for more performant and advanced use cases.
    2. Add additional strategies to reconcile packhouse output with orders.
    3. Implement alerts for transportation changes (ETA changes, GPS monitoring).
    4. Replace certain 3rd party container tracking services with our own solution.
    5. Integrate into department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries APIs for enriched tracking.
    6. Refactor the ETL pipeline into an ELT based solution.
    7. Develop improved ops dashboards for various tracking libraries.
    8. Design R&D database sharding strategies to support increased future volume.
    9. Phase out Bulma usage in favor of Tailwind CSS.
    10. Perform a POC for Mongo usage instead of Postgres for large document tables.
    11. Implement invoice generation and payment alerts.
