Description

The Night Baker at The Silo Hotel takes responsibility for running the Pastry section of the hotel at night, preparing breads, pastries, etc to meet our guests needs the following day.

Reporting directly to our Head Pastry Chef, this role requires an individual who is responsible, exacting and who enjoys working independently, at night, in a calm and quiet environment.

This ensures that we live up to our purpose which is _"To give our guests a complete experience and a perfect stay".

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

***- Manage the Pastry kitchen and team at night

Deliver on the hotel's bread, pastry and dessert requirements for the next day, ensuring presentation, quality and standards are maintained
Ensure compliance with food hygiene, Health & Safety standards
Monitor stock for baking & pastry ingredients, maintaining financial sustainability
Maintain a lean & organised pastry kitchen
Undergo training in both formal courses and on the job development baking
Encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members at night
Supervise workloads during your shift and be a team player
Ensure that you follow and lead by example according to our Purpose and Values

REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS

Must have at least 2 years' experience in a 5 Star Hotel
Must have at least 1 year Pastry experience
Diploma in City & Guilds in professional cooking / 1419 Hospitality & Catering Diploma OR a BTEC in professional cookery degree / a foundation degree in culinary arts
Excellent cooking and baking skills
Demonstrate excellent English written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multitask and excellent time management
Have an exceptional eye for detail
Proven job reliability, diligence, dedication and excellent personal presentation
Must be a team player, flexible and willing to work night shifts, weekends and public holidays

South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document.
