Job Description

To fulfil a statutory and financial management reporting function and ensures financial discipline and control

  • Review reporting for accuracy and appropriate disclosure
  • Review MIS reporting for accuracy and relevance
  • Provide commentary on quantitative and qualitative variance analysis and other relevant issues
  • Provide information for presentations meetings and forums
  • Implement and manage specific projects as required
  • Manage the testing and impact analysis of new and existing systems and products
  • Assist the BU to deliver on strategy by providing an appropriate reporting platform
  • Implement and monitor strategic objectives as required
  • Ensure adherence to deadlines
  • Act as the key point of communication between the various stakeholders
  • Ensure operations are running effectively and identify and implement efficiencies
  • Take responsibility for signoffs reviews etc.
  • Develop and update control processes that allow management to have confidence in the integrity of the financial reporting of the business and monitor the execution thereof
  • Ensure appropriate identification and mitigation of risk
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory statutory and group accounting reporting requirements
  • Build professional stakeholder relationships displaying excellent abilities to listen advise influence negotiate and present at all levels
  • Liaise with CFO to provide ongoing feedback and with external audit to finalise year end and BA reporting
  • Liaise with internal audit around the control environment
  • Liaise with internal regulatory teams to review and resolve queries
  • Liaise with relevant internal and external risk community to understand group policy and ensure BU compliance
  • Integrate information provided by various sources to make strategic decisions
  • Identify opportunities to leverage relationships and promote knowledge sharing
  • Represent the function at relevant internal forums and committees
  • Take full responsibility for performance management of all direct reports managing their performance in relation to quality standards and agreed benchmarks and objectives focusing on all aspects of sound people management
  • Engage in recruitment development, performance management, remuneration and rewards, career path planning, on the job training, coaching, and mentoring
  • Ensure appropriate levels of management and accountability
  • Motivate, delegate, and empower appropriately, enabling direct reports to take responsibility and display appropriate creativity and initiative
  • Work with the team to actively grow their skills and lead them in operational excellence
