Job Summary


The Planner will coordinate the administration and planning of production scheduling activities according to sales demand, safety stock requirements, service level agreements and company quality standards.

He/she will assist in ensuring that the company's products are produced on time and in full
.

Job Requirements:


  • Preference will be given to previously disadvantaged people.
  • Physically fit and healthy.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • National Senior Certificate.
  • Diploma in Supply Chain, Business Management or a similar field is preferred.
  • 35 years production planning experience within a manufacturing or related environment is essential.
  • Extensive 3 years' experience in ERP/ MRP within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • A demonstrable understanding in the planning process from start to completion.


  • Computer literate

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience in ERP systems (SYSPRO knowledge is advantageous).
  • Experience in FMCG or têxtile production would be advantageous.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Create weekly production schedule for manufacturing departments namely; Knitting, Sampling, Extrusion and Texturizing department.
  • Follow production guidelines and standards when constructing production plans.
  • Plan to ensure we manufacture on time and in full and supply reasons past dues.
  • Engage with production personnel to ensure the manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently through weekly planning meetings.
  • Capture all sales orders on the planning system and monitor WIP. Resolve discrepancies.
  • Report to Manager on the status of plan attainment and lead times, expediting operations that delay schedules and altering schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Communicate potential late deliveries.
  • Identify and report priorities in finishing to maintain delivery commitments and on time order fulfilment.
  • Communicate with relevant customers.
  • Plan replenishment of Safety stock to ensure no stock outs and maximize stock turn ratios.
  • Update and maintain Production Planning Board by; ensuring all job changes and cancellations are updated and all changes to piece tickets are corrected in the departments accordingly.
  • Walk through production department and update by confirming if the correct jobs are running and current meters on pieces.
  • Action all instructions from Manager to ensure lead times are achieved.
  • Supporting and driving improvement projects within the department and company.
  • Assist with stock take process.
  • General; perform ad hoc duties given by your manager.

  • Analytical skills to assess the viability of planning proposals and assess their suitability against the various planning practices, policies and procedures.
  • Competent in problemsolving / problem analysis.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal.
  • Resilient character.
  • Experience using IT systems including database management.
  • Strong organization skills with an ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize associated administration.
  • Experience of managing conflicting workloads and priorities.
  • Evidence of working as a team player with an ability to lead on projects when required.
  • Highly numerate and able to deal with large volumes of data.
  • Understanding of supply chain processes and concepts.
  • Multitasking capability without compromising on quality.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Cape Town,

Western Cape:
Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
