Our client is a leading spices and other food ingredients supplier in SA.***Main Purpose of job:
  • Manage, document, control in relation to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Food Safety Management and Laboratory Systems (FSSC22000, BRC, FSA) to ensure they are maintained at both manufacturing operations and trading branches
  • Assist in ensuring adherence to the legislative aspects relating to the quality and food safety through the effective management of food safety systems
  • Ensure that the document control system is in place and all documents are accessible when required for use

Responsibilities:


  • Manage the internal audits related to the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), allocating schedules and conducting audits. Assist in conducting internal audits (including customer audits for both wet and dry plants
  • Coordinate activities related to external audits (including customer audits)
  • Conducting induction and refresher training on hygiene and GMP
  • Coordinating and convening food safety team meetings and assist with coordinating of management reviews related to the Food Safety System
  • Coordinate and issue documents related to withdrawals, recalls and dumping notes
  • Create material safety data sheets for different products and manufacture's declarations for exports
  • Liaising with Pest Control and cleaning service providers to ensure adequate service in relation to the organisations Food Safety Management System

Requirements:


  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in food manufacturing
  • Experience in the manufacturing of spices, herbs, sauces and condiments will be advantageous
  • Comprehensive experience with local regulations of the Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act (54 of 1972) and related Food Law

Competencies:

  • Food safety and quality background preferably within a food ingredient
  • Manufacturing facilities, including but not limited to spices and herbs, sauces, marinades and other condiments manufacturing
  • Analytical capability, with special emphasis on implementing processes and systems to ensure compliance
