    Job Title: Business Information Security Officer (BISO)

    Sanlam Developing Markets (SDM) is one of the top financial services providers in the South African entry-level and emerging middle market. It aims to understand the unique requirements of clients and offers a wide range of simple and affordable financial solutions that cover needs such as funeral insurance, savings for education, life cover and personal accident plans.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Establish and manage a Business Unit (BU) Information Security Programme.
    • Participate in Group Information Security Programme (GISP) initiatives.
    • Respond to information security incidents and manage cyber crises.
    • Ensure information security governance and assurance.
    • Safeguard application (including cloud) and infrastructure security.
    • Provide cybersecurity education, training, and awareness.

    The BISO will implement processes and controls as agreed with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and the Business Chief Information Officer (CIO).

    The BISO will be accountable for the quality and cost-effectiveness of information security services delivery within the BU and will report on these metrics to the GISP.

    Be responsible for IT's Risk and Compliance (IT Service Risk Management and Sanlam Group standards).

    Requirements for Success:

    • Demonstrate knowledge of ISO 27001, COBIT, ITIL, CIS Top 20 Critical Security Controls, and ISF best practices.
    • Familiarity with information risk methodologies (IRAM2), threat modeling, and operational risk management methodologies.
    • Understanding of key business processes, key stakeholders, and their contact details.
    • Knowledge of risk management and governance structures within the Cluster.
    • Experience in policy writing and reviews.
    • Familiarity with security practices and standards in development, such as the security development life cycle (OWASP).
    • Understanding of the technical and application environment of the Cluster/Business Unit.
    • Ability to analyze and design controls, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    Requires a degree or diploma with 6-8 years of related experience.
