Job Purpose
- Plan, direct, coordinate activities concerned with construction and other projects related to Astron Energy facilities in the Retail, C&I and Lubricants networks. Oversee conceptual development of construction projects and oversee its organization, scheduling, and implementation.
- Manages retail and commercial network new constructions, major redevelopments and installation of new infrastructure or equipment in compliance with OSH Act requirements, in a safe, cost effective and timeous manner.
- Ensure delivery of Construction Project CAPEX program in line with Engineering KPI's. Shall implement a robust End-to-End Project Management System that shall ensure alignment with all internal and external projects stakeholders for effective and efficient delivery. Shall implement effective Contract Management Plan for holding all contracted parties accountable to agreed Services Level Agreement.
Financial Perspective - Formulate budgets, tracking and controlling of spends on a monthly basis
- Ensure that ADHOC projects are performed using the agreed rates
- Negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with Consultants, Suppliers and Contractors to achieve cost efficiency
Customer Perspective - Ensure that projects are correctly scoped by getting internal and external customer requirements well in advance
- Ensure that all projects are executed effectively
Business Excellence - Increase staff efficiency by providing structure, operating procedures, tools and guidelines
- Overall compliance to CHESM and SHEQ requirements
- Ensure project closure is done effectively and proper handover is completed with all stakeholders
- Manage scope and cost variations timeously and in line with internal requirements
- Ensure that projects are front-end loaded timeously by obtaining the necessary internal and external approvals well in advance
People Management - Lead, develop and manage direct reports to achieve individual and company goals
- Manage the work done by the professional consultants supporting the construction team
- Manage all service providers from contractors to suppliers of different materials and contract owner for all those contracts
Professional Qualification and Certifications: - Construction /Civil / Electrical / Mechanical Engineering Degree
Work Experience: - At least 5 years project engineering work experience
- Petroleum industry experience
Knowledge and skills: - Contract Negotiations and Management
- Implementation of End-to-End Project Management Systems and Processes
- Maintenance & Construction projects within the Petroleum industry
- Knowledge of SA Construction regulations and all application Standards and Codes
- Knowledge of OSHACT and Construction Regulations
- Hands-on experience with flowcharts, technical documentation and schedules
- Able to write clearly and concisely in a variety of communication settings and styles and with both internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Solid organization and time-management skills
- Attention to detail
- Financial management, planning and reporting
- Leadership and Supervisory Skills
